After negotiating the creation of this new public-private partnership, in 2011 Battle was asked to join the board as a representative of the American Council on Education.
Battle is a council member for the world’s leading nonprofit health advocacy organization committed to transforming health through genetics. He is working alongside a team of experienced health activists to assist this organization to foster open dialogue and innovation supporting the nation’s health.
As chair of the publishing advisory board, Battle helped
conceive and implement an innovative publishing plan to
create the world’s most comprehensive ornithological
resource of north American birds. A joint venture between
the American Ornithologists Union and Philadelphia Academy
of Natural Sciences, it took 10m years to complete before its
transfer to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
